ACTION ALERT — IMMEDIATE ATTENTION

May 17th, 2022|

The U.S. Senate is now considering the bipartisan Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Enhancements Act of 2022, an important bill that would provide a major funding increase to migratory bird conservation, as well as more equitable access to the funding. This new bill would boost the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA) — the only federal grants program specifically dedicated to the conservation of migratory birds across the Western Hemisphere. Saving migratory birds requires collaboration from experts and communities throughout the Americas. Since 2002, the NMBCA has supported more than 500 conservation projects in 36 countries, on more than 4.2 million acres of critical bird habitat. Nearly 400 migratory bird species benefit from these efforts, including the Red Knot and Cerulean Warbler. Please let your U.S. Senators know that birds matter to you! Ask them to co-sponsor the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Enhancements Act of 2022. For more information visit https://abcbirds.org/results/news/

Wednesday morning Radnor Lake migration walks begin April 20th!

April 18th, 2022|

The ever popular Nashville Chapter of TOS annual spring migration walks will begin THIS WEDNESDAY, April 20th at Radnor Lake SP, rain or shine. Meet at the ‘bottom’ of the Visitor’s Center parking lot off Otter Creek Rd near the kiosk by 7:30 am.  Ken Oeser will be leading this week’s walk.  There’s no need to register for this event and you do not have to be a member, although we’d love for you to join our Chapter. If you’re running a bit late and the group has set-off already, the route is always the same.  Up the road, across the spillway and down to Long Bridge, where the walk officially ends.  At that point you can turn around or continue on around the lake; some will. Come for an hour or stay all morning….you never know what Radnor Lake might reveal during spring migration. We hope to see you there!

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS TO LEAD RADNOR WALKS….

January 26th, 2022|

Have you every considered leading a bird walk?  Well, here's your chance. NTOS is seeking 4 volunteers to lead one walk each for our Wednesday Morning Radnor Lake spring migrations walks.  They start in the Visitor's parking lot at Radnor Lake SP at 7:30 am, go up the road, across the spillway and up the trail to Long Bridge usually ending before lunch. You DO NOT need to be an expert birder...just a friendly face willing to welcome folks as they arrive, keep the cumlulative bird list and keep everyone moving.  It's that simple.  The rest truly takes care of itself. If you have any questions, give me a holler....routledges@bellsouth.net...putting Radnor Lake walks in the subject line so I don't miss it.
